Lahore: The Punjab government inaugurated newly established field hospitals in Lahore on Wednesday.

Addressing an inaugural ceremony in Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said field hospitals are equipped with all necessary facilities.

She said field hospitals would go to remote areas and provide services where no health facilities are available.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that the Punjab government is planning to establish 200 clinics-on-wheels for major cities.

She announced that the Punjab government is going to start the province’s first air ambulance service within two weeks.

Maryam has unveiled plans to establish 32 field hospitals across the province, with the inaugural one set up in Bahawalpur. Emphasizing their focus on serving remote areas without adequate healthcare, these hospitals will offer a range of services including outpatient departments, immunization for infants, maternity care, surgical facilities, and assistance from lady health workers.

Expressing her government’s dedication to extending healthcare services, Maryam noted the rapid establishment of numerous field hospitals in Punjab within six months of her tenure. She also took a veiled jab at past practices, suggesting that containers, once used for disruptive purposes, will now be repurposed to deliver medical aid.

In response to critics, particularly those scrutinizing her efforts, Maryam urged them to contribute positively to public service. Crediting the inspiration for the field hospitals to Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, she pledged to continue his legacy.
