UTHAL: In a crucial step towards addressing the growing challenges of climate change in Balochistan, the Welfare Association for New Generation (WANG), supported by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), hosted an impactful community dialogue at Lasbela University. This event, developed in partnership with the university’s Environmental Science Department, aimed to shed light on the pressing climate-related issues facing the region and explore actionable solutions for resilience and sustainability.

WANG has been at the forefront of environmental advocacy and action in Balochistan, focusing on empowering communities to combat the adverse effects of climate change. With a mission deeply rooted in fostering sustainable development and environmental conservation, WANG has implemented numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing climate resilience, promoting renewable energy sources, and increasing awareness about environmental protection among local communities.

The recent community dialogue featured a panel of esteemed experts, including Pro-Vice Chancellor Elahi Bakhsh Marghazani, Dean of Marine Sciences Mohammad Aslam Bazdar, Deputy District Education Officer Hub Shazia Hameed, Environmental Journalist Mrs. Shabina Faraz, alongside notable social activist Lubna Jarar Naqvi and Kaka Garden Director Abdul Qadir Roonjho. Moderated by WANG’s Hira Hashmi, the discussion provided invaluable insights into the specific challenges posed by climate change in Balochistan and proposed a range of innovative solutions to address these issues.

Participants engaged in a lively Q&A session, expressing their concerns and seeking guidance from the panel experts. The dialogue concluded with WANG presenting commemorative shields to the panelists, acknowledging their valuable contributions to the event and the broader conversation on climate resilience.
