QUETTA: The President of the Beef and Mutton Association, Sarmad Siddiq, has said that instead of shutting down the Beef and Mutton shops, in light of the report of the analysis committee formed by the Price Control Committee, if the meat rates are not provided, they will be forced to protest.

He expressed these views at a press conference at the Quetta Press Club on Sunday.

Haji Sarmad Siddiq said that conducting business in a halal manner in Pakistan, especially in Balochistan, has become impossible. The district administration must issue a price list in proportion to the inflation. In this regard, a meeting of the Price Control Committee was held on March 4th at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, where a committee was formed to analyze the rates.

Representatives from the Labour Department, Industry Department, DC Office, and the Beef and Mutton Association went to the cattle market, bought animals, slaughtered them, and fixed the rates. All representatives signed this.

He said that now, according to the report, it was expected that a price list would be issued. However, contrary to this, the DC Office officials sealed their representatives’ shops and sent butchers to jail, which the Beef and Mutton Association strongly condemns.

He said that the Beef and Mutton Association demands that a price list be issued in light of the analysis report and that the arrested butchers be immediately released. Otherwise, the Beef and Mutton Association will be forced to protest strongly, for which all responsibility will fall on the district administration.

They also appealed to the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Sarfaraz Bugti, that the shopkeepers engaged in the business of Beef and Mutton be allowed to conduct business with dignity according to the law, and the district administration should be directed to stop the unauthorized harassment of butchers.
