QUETTA: The Pakistani Ambassador to Iran, Muhammad Mudasir Tepo, has said that people associated with trade play a crucial role in the country’s economy, stressing that by addressing and eliminating obstacles to bilateral trade between Pakistan and Iran, the set trade goals can be achieved.

These remarks were made during an online meeting with the officials and members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Quetta, Balochistan, held at the Industrial and Trade House on Monday.

He said representatives of exporters, importers, and transporters from Balochistan will soon meet with the appointed Pakistani Consul General in Zahedan to discuss the challenges they face.

In the session, the appointed Pakistani Consul General in Mashhad, Shahryar Mandokhel, and the appointed Consul General in Zahedan, Muhammad Sadiq, also participated. Prior to this, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Quetta, Balochistan, Haji Abdullah Achakzai, Senior Vice President Haji Agha Gul Khilji, Vice President Syed Abdul Ahad Agha, Senior Members Haji Muhammad Yaqub Marriani, Haji Faujan Bareech, Fida Hussain Dashti, and others drew the attention of the Pakistani Ambassador to the challenges facing exporters, importers, and transporters in the path of bilateral trade between Pakistan and Iran.

They urged the Pakistani Ambassador to address and resolve obstacles in the way of bilateral trade, such as uniformity in prices at border markets, facilities for loading and unloading in Taftan and Mirjaveh, promotion of bilateral trade based on equality, visa issues, strengthening of bilateral trade, and achieving set trade goals.

They emphasized the need for immediate action between both Islamic brotherly countries. In this regard, the role of the appointed Ambassador and Consul Generals in Iran is crucial, suggesting that the Pakistani Ambassador holds positive meetings with traders involved in trade with Iran, not only to inform them of the prevailing issues but also to gain firsthand knowledge of the ground realities.

During the meeting, Muhammad Mudasir Tepo emphasized the importance of strong bilateral relations between the two brotherly Islamic countries, stating that without stable mutual relations, the dream of economic progress would remain unfulfilled.

Consul General Muhammad Sadiq was directed to promptly visit Balochistan, assess the situation, and gather information about the challenges facing individuals involved in the Pakistan-Iran trade.
