As I reflect on my experience organizing the first-ever climate camp in Balochistan, I am reminded of the vast disparities that exist in our world. This region, ravaged by floods and heatwaves, is home to people who are unaware of the term “climate change.” Despite the numerous struggles they face, I do not blame them for their ignorance. Instead, I have made it my mission to educate them, starting with the youth.

We organized the first climate camp in Balochistan to raise awareness about the devastating impacts of climate change in our region. We aimed to create a platform where our youth could learn, share, and grow together, empowering them with knowledge and inspiring them to take action.

The journey was not easy. Activists from across Pakistan were hesitant to join me, fearing for their safety due to the media’s portrayal of Balochistan. However, I urged them to come and enlighten our youth. I am eternally grateful to those who stood by me.

The climate camp was a groundbreaking experience, bringing together young minds from across the province to discuss the impacts of climate change and potential solutions. We learned, shared, and grew together, finding hope in a region ravaged by despair.

To those who claim to understand our plight, I say: you don’t. We don’t need your sympathy; we need your solidarity in our fight. Balochistan is safe for all, despite what the media may say. It’s time to expose the lies and take action.

Where are the world leaders who vow to protect the planet? Don’t they see Balochistan’s agony? Our children cry out for water, our animals perish, and our seas vanish. We drink acidic rainwater, causing deadly diseases, and yet we lack proper medication. In the global north, pets receive better care than us. We live in darkness, lit only by the sun and moon. We starve, and floods claim our lives every year. Aid funds are allocated, but they never reach us.

I promise to empower our youth with awareness, to question the status quo. This world belongs to us too. We demand answers. We won’t be silenced. Wait for the day when Baloch youth will rise up and demand justice for the injustices inflicted upon us. The future of Balochistan depends on it. Our children depend on it. Our planet depends on it.

We can no longer afford to ignore the plight of Balochistan. Climate change is real, and it’s time for world leaders to take action. We need solidarity, not sympathy. We need change, not empty promises.
