Pakistan’s second innings was a disaster, as the Bangladeshi spinners, led by Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, tore through the lineup, dismissing them for just 146 runs. Pakistan’s batsmen, including skipper Shan Masood (14), Babar Azam (22), and Abdullah Shafique (37), fell cheaply, with only Mohammad Rizwan offering resistance with a half-century.
The match, played on what was expected to be a green-top, fast-bowling-friendly wicket, turned out to be a batsman’s paradise for the first four days, before the spinners took control on the final day.
Mushfiqur Rahim was instrumental in Bangladesh’s historic win, scoring 191, narrowly missing out on a double century. This was his first century against Pakistan and the 11th of his career. Contributions from Mehidy Hasan Miraz (77) and Shadman Islam (93) helped build Bangladesh’s formidable lead.
Pakistan, despite strong individual performances in the first innings, with Mohammad Rizwan scoring an unbeaten 171 and Saud Shakeel 141, crumbled under pressure in the second innings, paving the way for Bangladesh’s historic win.
