T20 WC: Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by two wickets

Dallas: In the 15th match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20 World Cup, Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by two wickets after an interesting match.

Batting first in the match played at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas, the Sri Lankan team scored 124 runs for the loss of nine wickets with the help of Bithar Peetham’s 47 runs in the allotted 20 overs.

Bangladesh achieved the set target in 19 overs at the loss of eight wickets.

First innings

Sri Lanka’s opening batsman Pitham Nissanka played a brilliant innings of 47 runs with the help of 1 six and 7 fours, Dhananjay De Silva 22, Charith Aslanka 19, Angelo Mathews 16 and Kushal Mendis returned to the pavilion with 10 runs.

Bangladeshi bowler Mustafiz-ur-Rehman took three wickets for 17 runs in four overs while Rishad Hussain also took three wickets for 22 runs.

Bangladeshi bowler Tasin Ahmed two and Hasan Saqib managed to send one player to the pavilion.

Second innings

Tanzeed Hasan and Soumya Sarkar opened the innings for Bangladesh but both the openers were bowled for six runs, Latin Das played an innings of 36 runs. While Toheed Haridoy scored 40 runs off 20 balls with the help of four sixes and a four.

Najam-ul-Hassan Shinto, captain Shakib-ul-Hasan, Rashid Hussain and Tasin Ahmad soon returned to the pavilion, but Mahmudullah played an excellent innings of 16 runs under pressure to lead his team to victory.

Sri Lanka’s Nawan Tushara took four wickets for 18 runs while Vinandu Hasaranga took two wickets and Mathisha and Dhananjaya de Silva got one each.

Rishad Hussain was declared the man of the match for his excellent bowling.

Bangladesh team started their journey in T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka today, while Sri Lanka had earlier lost their first match against South Africa by six wickets.
