Jaffar express escapes disaster after bomb explosion on track

QUETTA: Lahore bound Jaffar Express escaped from a big disaster as a bomb exploded at the main railway track linking Quetta with other three provinces, near Mushkaf area of Bolan district, on Tuesday.

Railway officials said that Jaffar Express was coming from Mach railways station on its way to Lahore when a powerful explosion was taking place at a main rail line near Mushkaf railway station.
Police said that unknown people planted an improvised explosive device at the railway track near Mushkaf railway station. However, it could not have detonated when the train was passing over the track.
“Improvised explosive device exploded when the train crossed the portion where the IED was planted,” SSP Kachhi Bolan said, adding that the train and passengers remained unhurt in the blast.
However, he said that a big portion of the track was damaged in the blast. The Jaffar express lift for its destination after security clearance.
Meanwhile, Railway officials said that engineers and other concerned staff were sent to the blast site who will start replacing the damaged portion of the track after security clearance.
They said that the security of the railway track has been tightened deploying more FC personnel.
