QUETTA: District Health Officer Quetta Dr. Saeed Ahmad Mirwani has said that in the second round of the ongoing campaign against tetanus, more than 502,000 women between the ages of 15 and 49 years will be vaccinated.

QUETTA: District Health Officer Quetta Dr. Saeed Ahmad Mirwani has said that in the second round of the ongoing campaign against tetanus, more than 502,000 women between the ages of 15 and 49 years will be vaccinated.

“Tetanus is a dangerous and life-threatening disease and vaccination is the only cure for it,” Dr. Mirwani said while addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club along with District Focal Person Health Quetta Ghulam Sarwar, District Coordinator UNICEF Quetta Irshad Ahmed Lehri, Abid Kasi, M&E Officer Nouman Bashir, Bilal Mengal.

Dr. Saeed Ahmad Mirwani said that the MNTEO program will continue for six days from December 9 to 14 in Quetta District, during the special campaign. In this regard, Quetta has been divided into 50 union councils and 636 teams have been constituted which will be supervised by 50 medical officers and provide vaccination to 5,21,135 women in all the girls’ high schools, girls colleges, universities, women’s handicrafts and villages.

He said that during the campaign from November 11 to November 16, 294 thousand women during the campaign, as 74% of the target could be completed because for some reasons the women could not be vaccinated in Cantonment areas.
In the second round of the campaign, women will be vaccinated in Cantt as well. The third arraignment of the campaign will take place in June 2020.

He said that tetanus is a dangerous and life-threatening disease. Mortality rates are high throughout the world, with mothers and children taking vaccine protection vaccines. Dr. Saeed said that in order to make this program a success, the district administration, MNAs, MPAs, scholars, social workers and other concerned people are urged to support health department, to help cure this deadly disease.

Dr. Saeed said that special campaign against tetanus is being carried out in Balochistan after 20 years.
