QUETTA: The Member National Assembly and chief of Balochistan National Party Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal on Sunday reiterated for supremacy of Parliament in the country added development stalled in Pakistan followed by decision being taken outside the Parliament.

“People of Pakistan might will witness cosmetic change but real change is too far in our country as power of Parliament and Constitution still fragile.” Akhar Mengal said while addressing a Seminar in Lahore held in honor of late Asma Jahangir.

Mengal expressed irk over violation of merit by federal government added the Parliament unanimously passed 18th but the implementations are yet to be commenced as provinces still deprived from their rights,

“Provinces even have no powers to change Chief Secretaries and IGs, tough Chief Minister is the superior in my province but more powers still in hands of Governor.” Akhtar Mengal said termed 18th amendment as useless in Balochistan.

Citing the example of recent video scandal in University of Balochistan Mengal said, replacing Vice-Chancellor in Balochistan is tantamount of replacing Prime Minister, “Despite a major video scandal in province’s biggest university, the provincial government didn’t take any action against University Staff including VC.”

Paying homage to one of staunch vocal for democracy Asma Jahangir the BNP Chief said, if people like Asma Jahangir born in every home, I think Pakistan’s issues could be addressed,

“Unfortunately Punjab never supported small provinces whenever they raised voice for their rights, but people of Punjab enjoyed privileges and perks showered upon them by Federal Government.” The BNP chief said vowed to continue raising Balochistan’s issue at every forum.
