QUETTA: Online E-Court system has been formally launched in Balochistan on Monday and on the first day 5 constitutional petitions and cases were heard by three members’ bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa through video conferencing.

QUETTA: Online E-Court system has been formally launched in Balochistan on Monday and on the first day 5 constitutional petitions and cases were heard by three members’ bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa through video conferencing.

Hearing through E-Court system will continue till 18th of July. The other members of bench include Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Umar Atta Bandial.  All five cases heard on first day.

In the opening remarks, Chief Justice Pakistan Mr. Asif Saeed Khan Khosa said that he wanted to launch E-Court system from Quetta, but due to some technical reasons we had to start from Supreme Court Karachi registry.

He further said it is a historic day for the people of Quetta and Balochistan. “After the Court vacations a special bench will hear the cases through video link E – Court System” Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa said.

He further said we are thankful to the NADRA for providing us technical facilities. “By the E-court System time and money of the people will be save. Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear the petitions through video link from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta and Peshawar.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan Quetta registry issued verdict in the first case heard through video link on Monday.

The SC Quetta registry’s case was heard via video link in Islamabad under the apex court’s judicial bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Khosa. In the hearing, the bench declared two year sentence of an accused Mushtaq Hussain’s two-year null and void who was involved in injuring a man. However, the court asked the accused to pay Rs. 40000 five with one month.

CJP Khosa said that after a while one special bench will hear cases especially from video link, adding that they are grateful to National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) for assistance.

Utilizing the system, lawyers presented their arguments from SC Karachi registry through video link. Initially, the e-court system was available at SC Islamabad and Karachi registry.
