Brida’ is a motivational novel written by a well-known and best-selling authors Paulo Coelho. He was born in Brazil in August 1947. His novels are loved and read internationally.

Two novels of him ‘The Alchemist’ and ‘Eleven Minutes’ are most popular and read novels of the author. The novel ‘Brida’ was firstly published in the UK by Harper Collins publisher in 2008. The novel is based on the story of a beautiful young Irish girl namely Brida and her incredible quest of knowledge which made her successful at the last of her journey.

The book is about a girl namely Brida burning the desire to be a witch. For this purpose, she traveled 90 miles journey from Dublin (Thailand) to a small village in Thailand to meet a magus about whom she heard. She expressed her feelings of being a witch to the magus, and he agreed to teach her by giving her a challenge to be fulfilled to spend one night in forest alone.

She accepted the challenge with a smile on her face and doubts inside. After the fulfillment of the challenge, magus agreed to teach her about the ‘tradition of the sun’ so Brida agreed since she had no more choices.

The magus taught her one of the main lessons to overcome fear in order to accomplish your goal. One day Brida went in the center of Dublin in a bookshop that specializes in occult studies where she got one of the witches namely Wicca’s number.

Brida requested Wicca to teach her then she agreed to teach her. Wicca saw a gift in Brida and started teaching her about the ‘tradition of the moon.’

Wicca told Brida that soul-mate is the very first thing people learn about when they want to follow the ‘tradition of the moon.’ Soul-mate is a person who comprehensively resembles another in the attitudes or beliefs.

Brida chooses to read ‘tradition of the moon’ rather than ‘tradition of the sun.’ Brida got an assignment by Wicca that for a whole week she should devote half an hour a day spreading tarot cards on the table so that she could understand the tradition of the moon.

She continued to perform all the rituals that Wicca had taught her such as to dance the hidden music of the world, find soul-mate, spread tarot cards, go in forest and understand about herbs and plants.

Many times Brida thought of giving up but she

realized her father who taught her that whenever she wants to find out about something, plunge straight in and sometimes certain blessings arrive by shattering all the windows.

Her father’s upon advising her do not be afraid to make mistakes hence mistakes are what make us clear. She became stronger than she was by anticipating her father’s words.

After some years, through the help of the magus, Wicca’s and her own determination and persistency she became able to understand the ‘tradition of the moon’ and also found her soul-mate namely “Lorenz” who was a physician.

The most ball-buster thing she faced in her journey of being a witch was that she either had to give time to her soul-mate or her ambition, but she founded a satisfactory solution to create a balance between her relationships and goal.

Each day she struggled to go nearer her goal and understand the language of the world. Finally, she and her hardworking brought sweet fruits became successful in being a witch.

The novel ‘Brida’ is all about a gift and tells that everyone in this world is given a specific gift by the Allah.

Few people have the courage to do so, and they prefer to follow paths that is not their own. Everyone has a gift, but they choose not to see it. In fact, none can make a choice without feeling afraid since one has to live whole life in that path.

The one simple phrase of William Blake gave Brida faith to go in search of wisdom which is “what is now proved was once only imagined.” This novel gives us a supreme lesson to follow your dreams because life without goal, life is worthless.
