QUETTA: A former Senator and Leader of Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal), Haji Lashkari Raisani has said that the nations giving importance to books reach the pinnacle of success.

Speaking on International Books’ Day at Law College Quetta, organized by Shaheed Baz Muhammad Kakar Foundation, he said that he had donated 20 thousand books to four varsities of Balochistan and announced that now a digital public library would be set up to facilitate students and researchers.

Prominent scholars’ writers and politicians, including Deputy Speaker Balochistan Assembly Sardar Babar Khan Musakhel, Ex-Finance Minister Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhel, Dr. Shah Mohammad Marri, Prof. Barkat Shah, Dr. Baqi Durrani, Prof. Darwesh Durrani, Arzo Ziaratwal, Rafiullah Kakar, Farooq Khan Kakar, Chairman of the foundation, Dr. Lala Muhammad Kakar and spoke on the occasion.

The speakers loaded the efforts of the Shaheed Baz Muhammad Foundation for observing international Book day and underlined the need for opening new libraries and promoting book reading.

They said that there is need those writers and scholars’ should come forward and produce good books.
Nawabzada Haji Lashkri Raisani while speaking said that the book reading culture can be promoted by giving away books as gifts,” said Lashkari, adding, “Balochistan’s people respect book lovers more than Sardars and rulers.”

Lashkari said the evils, including terrorism, could only be defeated by popularizing by books. “Nawab Aslam Raisani has taken admission in a varsity at the age 64, and this message of education and books’ reading must be transferred in every nook and corner of the province.”

The Chairman of Baz Mohammad Foundation Dr. Lal Khan Kakar thanked people for participating in the program, adding, “This shows how much our people love the books, as well as I dedicate today’s function to 8th August’s martyred lawyers.”

According to him, there is a single public library. Instead, he further adds, there should have been ten public libraries.
