QUETTA: Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Petroleum, and Power sector has Balochistan would get gas and power supply without any interruption, which it had deprived since 70 years, despite producing natural gas since 50’s.

Speaking at a Press Conference after attending a meeting with senior officials of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) here on Monday, he said that he has taken over new responsibilities to resolve the problems being faced by the people of Balochistan in the power and petroleum sector.

General Manager SSGC, Balochistan Madni Siddique and other concerned senior officers were present in the meeting, who have given detailed briefing to Sardar Rind about the performance of the SSGC in the province and informed the problems and other issues it was facing in the province.

“The issues and problems of Balochistan cannot be solved if we follow the traditional style of working,” Mr. Rind said adding that the people are being paying much in form of taxations; it’s also the prime responsibility of the state to pay back maximum possible Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind was informed that the SSGC was suffering annual losses of Rs. 6 billion which is 49 percent of gas supply. “Huge numbers of consumers are defaulter or involved in gas theft in the province.” He said that prime minister wanted to ensure Gas and Electricity facilities to maximum areas of the country and specially in Balochistan.

Special Assistant of the Prime Minister said that the SSGC officials have informed him about the issues they facing in smooth gas supply to the people of the province. He said that despite suffering huge financial constrains and a loss Sui southern Gas Company has been providing maximum services to the people.

“Problems and issues of Balochistan cannot be solved if we follow the traditional style of working,” he said and added that people are being paying much in form of taxes; it’s also the prime responsibility of the State to pay back maximum possible reward to the people also.

He said that all hurdles in the supply of power and gas would be removed to ensure smooth supply in the providing gas and electricity across the province and steps in this connection would be taken. “I have taken responsibilities relinquished by the Prime Minister with the vision to resolve the problems of the people of Balochistan,” Sardar Yar Muhammad said adding that it’s the policy of PTI government to control corruption; neither we nor others will be permitted to promote corruption in the country.

Sardar Rind, who is also member of Balochistan Assembly, said that a complaint cell comprising SSGC officials and people from other departments and public would be set up for immediate resolving the issues being faced by the people. “Want to evolve such a mechanism that every complaint of citizens regarding Electricity and Gas will be entertained and solved.” he said.

He said that government had a plan to convert all the 32000 legal tube wells from electricity to solar technology.
