The Quetta is surrounded by hills and fruit gardens and was also known as ‘Little Paris’ in the past owing to its natural beauty and pleasant weather. The provincial capital depicts the first image of Balochistan but unfortunately none of previous administration focused on Quetta’s Master Plan.

Chief Minister slammed Metropolitan Cooperation’s performance previous government for destroying the Quetta Beauty. “After the briefing we were astonished that why previous administration neglected the provincial capital and turned the city into pile of garbage.” Jam Kamal said vowed to restore old beauty of Quetta city.

“Without keen interest over department’s performance our city would continue getting into sludge of problems, the provincial government has been focusing on service delivery and infrastructure.” Jam Kamal said while talking to media. The previous administrations distracted citizen with meager development projects and relies upon their next administration,

“Still the Metropolitan Cooperation depends on provincial government although the department owns assets worth of billions of rupees. The provincial capital is facing enormous problems, like haphazard traffic, drinking water reserves, drainage system, noise and air pollution, lack of standard recreational places and deteriorating condition of cleanliness around the metropolitan. Ironically, almost all governments could not pay attention and address these gigantic problems of the provincial capital.

Whatever activities and civic services provided were meant for the commercial districts or surrounding the Government offices in the province capital. The previous Municipal administration spend a huge amount of money with the little success for beautify Quetta city.

The previous local governments were busy in wasting money on efforts to beautify Quetta city and mainly its one or two roads in the city centre with a brute fact on the ground that the Baloch Capital had been reduced to a huge slum with overflowing gutters and drain lines breaking its banks more frequently.

It is pity that the overflowing gutters remained unattended for hours and days. The provincial capital is a city that has seen a continuous population growth owing to multiple factors. Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal had to accept to face all challenges in the field of health, education, water supply and above all maintenance of public order in all parts of Balochistan.

There is no need of building five huge parking plazas located within a radius of half a kilometer of the commercial district. Once, the previous regime floated the idea of Quetta Mass Transit Train Project that has, perhaps, gone again into the oblivion. The absence of an efficient public transport would always stimulate citizens to use personal vehicles or be a prey to rickshaw mafia for travelling a minor distance within the city.

There doesn’t seem a single serious efforts made to improve the quality of life of the common people in Quetta city and other parts of Balochistan, On the Issue of MPAs, They should be barred from interfering in the administrative affairs. Balochistan province has history where new government set-up never continued development schemes commenced by their predecessors but the Jam Kamal seemed to be optimistic to complete the ongoing projects and master plan of Quetta.

The new QMC and its officials should be discouraged or barred from launching any commercial projects for their personal benefits. Things will get better in the province, only if there is honesty of purpose and genuine will, strong system of checks and balances and periodical review processes. We hope the beautification and development plans also bring some beauty and development to rotten mind-sets in chairs.
