ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Standing Committee on Sports, chairman Agha Hassan Baloch said no favouritism would be extended even to Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) in reaching truth on complaints regarding mishandling of funds.

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Standing Committee on Sports, chairman Agha Hassan Baloch said no favouritism would be extended even to Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) in reaching truth on complaints regarding mishandling of funds.

Talking to The News, the young Baloch BNP leader said all efforts would be made to dig out the truth involved in complaints against PHF and other federations. He said as the chairman of the IPC Standing Committee he would never tolerate any financial irregularities in the sports federations.

The NA Committee chairman admitted that the game of hockey was on the decline. “Hockey is our national game and need backing and support. During the last few years, we have gone from bad to worse finishing poor 12th in the World Cup. For four time world champions, this performance is nothing less than a disaster.”

Agha Hassan Baloch said as a chairman IPC Committee he would take all possible steps to help restore game’s image. Besides hockey, he said committee efforts would be to suggest measures for the improvement of Olympic sports plight. “I have to admit here Olympic sport is also struggling in Pakistan. We would make our effort to suggest ways and means to improve plight of these games.”

The NA chairman also asked Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to make arrangements to hold at least one of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season-5 match in Quetta. “Even Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan is keen to have at least one match of PSL in Quetta. We have got Akbar Bugti Stadium where the match can be organised after required renovation.”

NA Committee chairman said that hosting PSL future matches in Quetta would be important for the uplift of the game in the area and to help Balochistan youngsters take up the game seriously.

“PSL matches would help increase and boost game’s passion amongst youth of Balochistan.” Agha Hassan Baloch said that IPC committee would soon be convened.
