SAHIWAL  – Four alleged terrorists including two women were shot dead on Saturday by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officers in a purportedly high-speed pursuit in Qadirabad area of Sahiwal city.

Meanwhile, CTD officials have claimed that three other terrorists including Shahid Jabar and Abdul Rahman managed to flee during the chase near the toll plaza of Sahiwal.

According to CTD spokesperson, officers tried to stop a motorcycle and a car at 12 noon when the incident occured.

Furthermore, the CTD has claimed of confiscating explosives and weapons from the car.

Moreover, CTD has stated that officers were investigating into the matter as part of the operation in Faisalabad on January 16.

Contrarily, an eye witness has told the media that the deceased were neither equipped with any weapon nor resisted officers and three children were also present in the car.

One of the children sustained critical wounds and was rushed to the DHQ Hospital for medical attention.

A police spokesperson has told the media that CTD officials have taken away their dead bodies.

Punjab Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan asserted that the deceased were affiliated with a terrorist organization.

“If CTD officers are found guilty, an appropriate action would be taken against them,” he said, adding that often the CTD used to conduct such operations without informing police.

Subsequently, details of one of the suspected terrorist escaping in the car have been released.

 

Later, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar took notice of the incident and directed Inspector General of Punjab (IGP) Police Amjad Javed Saleemi to investigate into the incident on the priority basis.
