QUETTA: Polio is an infectious disease all the segments of society including the institutions should play their role and take serious measures for Polio. Quetta block is a high risk area in this regarding owing to the entry of thousand of Afghan refugees from Afghanistan through Chaman Border.

The Commissioner of Quetta Division, Hashim Gilzai while speaking in a the Divisional Task Force meeting, owing to the presence of Polio virus the related institutions must be vigilant and bring rapidness in its measures to counter polio virus as soon as possible. He said flaws present in the recent polio campaigns would be averted.

At the occasion, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Killa Abdullah Shafqat Shahwani, DC Quetta, Tahir Zaffar and other government officials including the representatives of UNICEF, World Health Organization (WHO) were present.

He said, foolproof arrangements would be made to arrange polio vaccines for the far flung areas of the province and special measures would be made on all entrance gates on borders so that even a single child could not enter without having Polio prevention drops.

Without Polio vaccination organizations, security forces too would play important role in this regard. They would made foolproof security arrangement to ensure the security of polio vaccinators. The polio monitoring organizations should made effective arrangements. He added.

He further emphasized on Quetta and Killa Abdullah Division particularly to ensure successfulness of polio campaign.
