Frontier Corps (FC) Baluchistan is primarily responsible for protecting the borders of Pakistan with Afghanistan and Iran, but given the poverty and backwardness in all spheres of life in Baluchistan, the forces are contributing to help the government in improving the literacy rate, provision of healthcare and ration.

Balochistan’s population is dispersed on a rough terrain and difficult mountains where many people do not have access to basic healthcare, education and even to food. Given these difficult circumstances, any helping hand is welcome. On the one hand, soldiers are sacrificing their life to protect the borders and maintain law and order, on the other hand they are also investing in education and health. For these measures, the paramilitary troops deserve praise, especially in a region like Baluchistan where majority of the kids are out of school. This terrible and unacceptable situation, requires every institution to play their role. FC’s role in provision of education, health and ration to the poor people of Baluchistan is rarely given coverage to the media. Here are few facts people should know about what FC officials have been doing besides making efforts in restoring peace.

FC runs 76 public schools, including 11 shelter schools (Schools which imparts Education to the children of surrender Ferraris.

There are 24,500 students, including 21 % girls, and all these schools are established in remote areas where infrastructure is in precarious condition like i.e Musa Khel, Kingri, Gulistan, Lehri, Loti, Brakhan and Panjpai. The ducation is free to 6500 students and scholarships are also provided to 1073 students which includes pupils from University of Balochistan, Sardar Bahadur Khan University (SBK), BUITEMS and other colleges in the province. FC is responsible for taking care of 16 Hostels  in  different districts  of the  province  (over  500 students from remote areas) i.e  Zhob, Loralai, Muslim Bagh, DMJ and Dera Bugti. Those are the areas where majority of the people lack basic necessities of the life.

When it comes to healthcare, Balochistan is considered among the countries where number of malnourished children and maternal mortality rates are higher than any other province and sometimes considered among the world’s poorest African countries.  FC runs 60 medical centers (100 % free treatment / medicines for the locals. During the year of 2018, 190 free medical camps were established (Total 135000   x patients treated free) in far flung areas like Margat, Punjpai, Skam  Kanh,  Spina  Tezha, Qamar Din  Karaz, Kholo,  Sibi,  Dera  Bugti  and others porous borders and  villages of the province. FC officials are planning to extend their support and provide more facilities to those areas which are neglected for decades and centuries.

Frontier Corps Balochistan has also distributed ration to needy people. They have distributed as much as 528.08 tons of ration in those areas where people hardly afford meal twice a day. Besides ration, FC installed 28 solar tube wells in Cheatter, Chagai, Sui and nearby areas. The forces restored water solar systems in Lotti, Khatan, Qila Abdullah and Lorali and installed 15 ROs plants in Chaman, Qila Saifullah, Lehri, Dera Bugti, Mach and other small towns. A recreation park has been established in Duki and a cricket ground (Pakistan’s first ever astro turf ground in Chaman.

These are the contributions FC makes every year because the forces believe in building and protecting the nation.

Balochistan needs more attention and help than other provinces in terms of health, education and provision of ration, which is why FC had decided to take part in these activities. The efforts FC make are commendable but are rarely given due praise. FC efforts underscore that all the institutions and people, in general, join their hands together for the development of Balochistan.

The forces are a good example of contributing towards in restoring peace and building a nation.
