QUETTA: The Health Department Balochistan has introduced Drug Rules 2018 under the act of 1976 section number 44 moving to launch crackdown against mafia selling fake and counterfeit medicines in Balochistan.

According to Drug Rules 2018, in first phase of the new Drugs Act Commissioner in all Division will lead the Quality Control Board comprising on Deputy Commissioners, Drug Inspectors, Pharmacists and Health Department officials.

Using the given rights, the board members will be responsible to monitor and launch inspections in all medical stores in their respective Districts to make ensure selling quality medicines to the people of Balochistan.

The board has given fully powers to launch strict action against medical stores selling fake and counterfeit medicine to the innocent citizens and seal the store with immediate case process against the owners.

Erstwhile the Quality Control Board was being led by Provincial level which causing delays in pursuing cases against medical mafia involved in selling fake medicines.

It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan given strict directions to the health department to launch crackdown against medicine companies and medical stores selling fake and counterfeited medicines.

Following the directions Secretary Saleh Nasir constituted a task force headed by Special Secretary Health Javed Akhtar Mehmood to collect all details of medicine sellers looting public with fake medicines.

The Health Department vowed to commence crackdown against medicine mafia involve in heinous crime of selling fake and counterfeited medicines reiterating that the mafia attach with notorious business won’t be spared at any cost.
