QUETTA: Young Doctors Association (YDA) on Saturday announced to continue protest against what they claimed provincial government not willing to provide safety kits for doctors performing duties in Sheikh Zahid Hospital and treating Novel Coronavirus patients.

In order to record its protest the YDA has locked down the office of Medical Superintendent (MS) Civil Hospital adding with performing duties we would continue to record our protest against provincial government’s non-serious attitude.

“Despite increasing number of doctors being infected with COVID19 due to performing duties in isolation wards of Sheikh Zahid Hospital, provincial government didn’t provide safety kits.” Spokesman YDA Rahim Babar said alleged government for transferring doctors in Civil Hospital.

He further accused provincial government and administrative officers of escapism from COVID19 duties  while despite requests we yet to received safety kits and equipment.

“We postponed our protest over Chief Minister Assurance but following provincial government’s non-serious attitude, we would set a sit-in outside Chief Minister House.” The spokesman added.

Further the Medical Superintendent Dr. Fazal ur Rehman Bugti claimed, the Young Doctors have commenced blackmailing while majority are absent from duties, “ When we asks them to come on duty, they begins protest including locking down office inside Civil Hospital.” He added urged health department to protect MS and Deputy MS of Civil Hospital.

It was pertinent to mention here that 11 doctors performing duties in isolation wards tested positive with COVID19 indicating lack of facilities for doctors in Balochistan.
