QUETTA: Balochistan Agriculture Minister Engineer Zamrak Khan Achakzai has demanded of federal government to make Quetta-Sibi highway a dual carriageway as  losses of precious human lives had become daily routine on this highway. “Converting highways of Balochistan into dual carriageways has become inevitable,” he added.

He made this demand while addressing to the inaugural ceremony of historical Sibi Meal which began in sibi on Wednesday. He presented demands on the part of Balochistan government before President Dr. Arif Alvi who was attending the Sibi Mela as chief guest while Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan, provincial ministers and MPAs were also present on the occasion.

Welcoming President Arif Alvi to Sibi mela, Zamrak Khan Achakzai said that Balochistan was the largest province of the country but there was no dual carriageway due to which fatal incidents were normal occurrence on daily basis. “We demand President Arif Alvi to play his role and include construction of dual carriageway of Quetta-Sibi highway in federal PSDP and ensure its timely completion,” he added.

Provincial Minister said that Sibi Mela was of important festival of its nature in which people across the country gather that further promote national unity and solidarity. “Development activities in all districts of the province including that of Sibi are underway as government believes in uniform development and prosperity of all districts,” he added.

Meanwhile, President Dr. Arif Alvi in his speech announced to play his role in making Quetta-Sibi highway dual carriage way while Chief Minster Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan also strongly supported the stance of Zamrak Khan Achakzai.
