QUETTA: Despite countless claims, the District Administration has failed to control vegetable price Hike in provincial capital Quetta. According to detail the prices of vegetable are rises in markets of Quetta, as price of Ginger, Lemon and Garlic increased from 350 to 400 rupees per Kilogram. The price of lady finger and peas hiked from Rs. 160 to 200 rupees per Kilogram.

QUETTA: Despite countless claims, the District Administration has failed to control vegetable price Hike in provincial capital Quetta. According to detail the prices of vegetable are rises in markets of Quetta, as price of Ginger, Lemon and Garlic increased from 350 to 400 rupees per Kilogram. The price of lady finger and peas hiked from Rs. 160 to 200 rupees per Kilogram.

Green paper bell and French beans are being sold at 160 rupees per kg with fresh addition of rupees 40, the prices of cauliflower and bitter gourd are reported to be 80 to 100 rupees per KG in the market. The prices of tomato and egg plan also went up to 50 to 60 per Kg, while potato is being sold at 40 rupees per kg in the market with the addition of 10 rupees.

People of the city are worried after the fresh vegetable price hike they told that the price control committee has failed to stop the inflation in the city, as prices of different commodities are increasing day by day, while no rate list is on display at the shops.

“Retailers are selling the commodities on artificial prices,” a buyer told while demanding that district administration must take stern action for lowering prices and controlling inflation.

Vendors and shop keepers in vegetable markets claim that the off season is causing vegetable price hike, those vegetables are from the off season which is going to be end. Which is why, those vegetable are expensive, while the vegetable of fresh season are being sold on cheap prices in the market.

Some retailers told that they purchased expensive vegetables from the main market, therefore they have to increase the prices in retail market. Few vendors and shop keepers had stance that the smuggling is the cause of vegetable price Hiking, government must takes action against those who smuggled the vegetables to Iran and Afghanistan illegally.

District Administration told that price of different commodities are being checked on daily basis, those who are involved in the price hike and smuggling of commodities, strict action against them will be taken on immediate basis.
