QUETTA: Wheat crisis in Balochistan, thousands of sacks of wheat were damaged in a government warehouse in Muslim Bagh. Balochistan has been facing a wheat crisis for several months, causing flour prices to rise by 30 to 40 percent.

In Muslim Bagh town of Qilla Saif Ullah district more than 5,000 sacks of wheat were found damaged in the government warehouse. Recent rains and snowfall, deteriorated these 5,000 sacks of wheat in the Muslim Bagh Food Warehouse, lying under the open sky, which is no longer can be used.

Food department of Balochistan has no information about the condition of wheat stored in warehouse. “We will assess the situation in the food store to know whether wheat can be used or not,” food department officials.

In Balochistan, there is a wheat crisis and on the other hand the available wheat is deteriorating. Flour mills owners claim that the government’s negligence could further increase wheat prices in the province.
