Aesthetically, it is famous all around the world because of its unique taste, it is too present in every Baloch family on special occasions like eid, marriage party, birthday party and so on. Meanwhile, it is well-liked in every season even though the people of Makran and from other parts of Balochistan usually bring this Halwa in the occasion of happiness and sorrow.
The process of making Halwa is running from decades, it was made for the very first time when Gwader was under Oman. Similarly, it was made by a man from the first day namely Bandai who was a Hindu and a teenager boy named Khudabux who worked with him in his shop and learnt the recipe. Later he opened his own shop and started the same what he had learnt. Everyone can get so many Gawaderi Halwa shops but Khudabux halwai is the most loved and famous one ever.
Many people around each other are following their forefathers who used to sell Halwa, and many are doing it as business.
Delightfully, there are various types of Gwaderi Halwa like, Sada Halwa, Banoor Halwa and Gwaderi Halwa. It’s available in many colors but the greenish and yellowish are most demanded ones. Here it is a small method of making Halwa, first of all boil Desi-Ghee (oil) butter on high flame after that add sugar when it melts add flour and then color after that garnish it with dry fruits, like almond, pistachio, cashew, nuts and etc, to make it more scrumptious; importantly, it takes almost one and half-hour to be ready, when it gets ready most of the time the people usually serve it hotly.
In fact, local people take the Halwa with them when they do leave for abroad, mostly in Dubai, Masqat, Oman, Bahrain and etc as gift for their beloveds.
Moreover, we have not to ignore the efforts of those people who work hard to provide us this authentic taste, they spend all the day in front of high heat even in hot summer days to make this tasty for everyone and their efforts are too be appreciated.
In short, I personally do recommend everyone that whenever you visit Gwader then don’t forget to taste Gwaderi Halwa and also take this souvenir for your family and loved ones.
