QUETTA: – Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti, the President of Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) and grandson of late Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti has won in the re-election on 29 polling stations of NA-259-Dear Bugti-Cum-Kohlu-Sibi-Barkhan with big majority, on Sunday.

QUETTA: – Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti, the President of Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) and grandson of late Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti has won in the re-election on 29 polling stations of NA-259-Dear Bugti-Cum-Kohlu-Sibi-Barkhan with big majority, on Sunday.

According to unofficial result of 29 polling stations, Shahzain Bugti obtained 22752 while Mian Khan Bugti got 2029 votes in 29 polling stations. Mir Tariq Mehmood Khetiran could get only 142 votes in the same polling stations.

Shahzain Bugti had elected to the National Assembly from his native constituency in July 2018 general elections on the ticket of his own faction of JWP, which had established by his grandfather Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti. Shahzain had taken oath as member of the National Assembly and supported Imran Khan in the election of Prime Minister.

However, his arch rival Mir Tariq Mehmood Khetiran a close relative of late Nawab Bugti had challenged his election in the election commission of Pakistan leveling allegation of rigging in election on NA-259. He pleased that election should be declared null void and reelection should be conducted in constituency.

The Election Commission of Pakistan accepted the petition of Tariq Mehmood Khetiran and ordered re-polling in the 29 polling stations of NA-259. The decision of the Election Commission challenged in the supreme court of Pakistan, which upheld the decision of the commission and ordered re-election in the 29 polling stations of Dera Bugti.

In 2018 general elections, Shahzain Bugti had obtained 22787 votes and elected to the National Assembly while close rival candidate Mir Tariq Mehmood Khetiran remained second with getting 21213 votes.

Amid tight security, polling has held in 29 polling stations of Dear Bugti district on the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan. The Balochistan Election Commission has established 115 polling booths for 29 polling stations.

As many as 31 candidates took part in the re-polling on 29 polling station that include Shahzain Bugti of JWP, Tariq Mehmood Khetiran, Wadera  Mian Khan Bugti and many others.

The number of registered voters of 29 Polling stations was 47269. Out of 47269 registered voters, 27899 were female voters while 19370 were male voters.

The local administration had declared 18 polling stations very sensitive while heavy contingent of security forces including army and FC personnel have deployed. Strict Security measures were also taken at all other polling stations to peacefully conduct the re-polling.

Polling started at scheduled time of 8 am morning, which continued to 5 PM without any interval. People in large number cast their votes for their candidates. No untoward incident was reported from area of the 29 polling stations. Contingents of Police, Frontier Cops Balochistan, Balochistan Constabulary, Levies and Law Enforcement agencies were already deployed at the polling stations.
