QUETTA: The Pakistan Workers Federation on Saturday set debate with Member Provincial Assembly on provincial Mining Act 1923 discussing workers’ safety and precautionary measures for labors working in Balochistan.

QUETTA: The Pakistan Workers Federation on Saturday set debate with Member Provincial Assembly on provincial Mining Act 1923 discussing workers’ safety and precautionary measures for labors working in Balochistan.

Member Provincial Assembly Nasrullah Khan Zeeray, Ahmed Nawaz Bangulzai, National Coordinator Pakistan Workers Federation Shoukat Ali Anjum, Mama Salam and Abdul Kareem have attended the discussions.

Program Officer Asad Mehmmod has shed comprehensive lights on provincial mine act 1923 added the PWF with cooperation of MPAS, Stakeholders and Media conducting meetings in order to ensure safety of miners during any mine incidents.

The National Coordinator Shoukat Anjum has stressed upon social security of mine labors, registration of workers and safety precautions for labors have become imperative following numbers of hazardous mining incidents in Balochistan,

“Other provinces have adopted legislations over mining act following 18th amendment but Balochistan has yet to discuss the issue at floor of the house.” He said urged the MPAs and government to include PWF’s recommendations in provincial legislation.

Members Provincial Assembly Nasrullah Zeeray and Haji Ahmed Nawaz Bangulzai have lamented over lack of labor laws in Balochistan pledged to raise the issue at provincial assembly.

“Unfortunately our mine labors have been working in dilapidated circumstance where they don’t have access of safety equipment which risking their lives on daily basis.” They said added the opposition would table the legislation with recommendations of PWF.

The labors representatives Muhammad Kakar and Mama Salam have demanded increase in death commission of mine labors from two lakhs to half million added the depth of mining in Balochistan has reached upto 6000 feet which causing deaths in mining fields.
