QUETTA: Student organizations claim the varsity has banned the freedom of expression and political activities at the University of Balochistan.

QUETTA: Student organizations claim the varsity has banned the freedom of expression and political activities at the University of Balochistan.

Speaking at a press conference, a group of students belonging to different student organizations protested at the Quetta Press Club for being disallowed in the student politics. Instead, they claimed, the varsity has formed a Uobian students’ organization. With the help of the said organization, they claimed, the varsity administration is threatening student organizations to stay away from student politics and political activities inside the varsity.

Baloch and Pashtun student organizations of the University of Balochistan addressed the press conference together.

Leaders of student organizations Shahid Khan, Dr. Umair, Habib, and Jabbar told reporters that chairperson of the physiotherapy department of the UoB is rude toward students, and she is deliberately failing students of her department as a punishment for being active in the student politics.

“Not only the chairperson is failing the students but she and the vice-chancellor of the varsity are misusing HEC rules against the students of the UoB,” said Shahid Khan, adding, “Some of the teachers have assured students of giving them good marks if they say goodbye to student politics at the varsity, which is unacceptable.”
