Chief of Zarakzai tribe sub-clan of Zehri tribe and senior leader of Balochistan National Party (BNP)  Nawab Amanullah Zarakzai among his grandson and two gunmen have been shot dead during early hours of Saturday night at Balbal area of Zehri district Khuzdar.

Nawab Zarakzai had been moving toward his native town Norgama along with his grandson Mardan Zarakzai when unknown armed men ambushed his convoy at mountains of Balbal killing the tribal chief of Zarakzai tribe along with his grandson, gunmen Nisar and Sikandar. Nawab Amanullah Zarakzai was the son of veteran Baloch leader Nawab Noroz Khan but running his political through Balochistan National Party Mengal’s platform.

Member National Assembly and President BNP Mengal Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal strongly condemned the killings of Nawab Zarakzai and his grandson called the attack as another black day for BNP and people of Balochistan. “This loss has deprived us all, I am lost of words today, devastated to learn that Shaheed Amanullah Zehri with his friends and innocent grandson have been brutally killed in the middle of the night.” Sardar Mengal expressed his grief on Twitter prayed mercy for the departed souls.

So far no group has claimed responsibility of the attack till the file was reported but it was premature to examine whether Nawab Zarakzai was killed by an armed separatist group or the attack occurred following a tribal dispute. Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan strongly condemned the murder of Amanullah Zehri called the attack as a conspiracy against tribal customs and peace in Balochistan, “Government of Balochistan has directed district administration and LEAs to utilize all resources in order to nab the culprits involved in killing of senior leader of BNP Mengal.” Jam Kamal said added no one would be allowed to sabotage peaceful environment in Balochistan.

In response to the attack Balochistan National Party Mengal on Saturday observed shutter down strike in Wadh while business activities remained close inside Wadh city. BNP’s leadership received by tens of thousands of people in all the four climatic regions of Balochistan. It is the barometer for party’s popularity among the people of Balochistan. Thus any dispute, conflict and quarrel with any individual or group of individuals is completely ruled out. It seems to be a clear case of terrorism.

Some elements in our society want to terrorize Political parties for obvious reasons. With these kinds of incidents, it is being predicted that some elements want to harass local Political Leader’s. It is the duty of the Government and the security agencies to protect the life and each and every citizen of this country, including political leaders or political opponents of the Government.

It is hoped that the security agencies would work hard to unearth the real culprits who Killed BNP’s planted the bomb and at the same time restore full confidence of the people on all law enforcing agencies of the State of Pakistan. But within a week, At least four people were killed after a loud explosion rocked a madressah located in Kuchlak area on the outskirts of Quetta and now the killing of Balochistan National Party(BNP) leader have raise an eyebrow.

The security agencies need to clarify who did it; was it an outcome of personal enmity? Was it intended to change the narrative and to suppress the debate over corruption and highlight the lack of security in Balochistan? Was it a case of political revenge? Was it simply a case of terrorism? This clarification will help to understand the nature of violence in order to counter it.

Believes that it will be premature to hold responsible any individual or group for this murder; it can be propaganda of non-state actors to malign the peace resumption in the province, it can be political killing, or can possibly be a personal vendetta.
