QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan Aliyani on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review water projects for Balochistan under Federal Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).

QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan Aliyani on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review water projects for Balochistan under Federal Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).

Federal Secretary for water Muhammad Ashraf has briefed the meeting added Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed water department to ensure timely completion of water projects for Balochistan in order to fulfill water needs of the province.

Addressing the meeting CM Jam Kamal has said, provincial government has been utilizing all resources to fulfill water need added after completion of new dams with federal government’s fund we would be able to store water for province’s agricultural need,

“Due to lack of dams millions of litter rain water being wasted but adequate dams on suitable points would help us to store more water for the province.” Jam Kamal said added provincial government has been keeping close eye on implementation of water projects for Balochistan in Federal PSDP.

He said, Mangi Dam would end water scarcity in Quetta while Kachi Canal would ensure provision of water for green belt of Balochistan, “Agricultural remained the backbone of provincial economy therefore we have been working on projects to turn vast land of Balochistan into agricultural land.”

CM Balochistan directed authorities to constitute a Joint Coordination Committee in order to monitor water projects in the province.

Federal Government has included 65 water projects for Balochistan in Federal PSDP in which 35 new and 30 on-going schemes have been included.

The central government has allocated 54352.40 million rupees for 35 new schemes while 161092.16 million rupees for on-going schemes.
