QUETTA: As many as 15 senior doctors participated in a six days long training organised by Maternal and Child Survival Programme (MCSP) and Jhpiego on use of a newly introduced contraceptive, Sayana Press, for family planning (FP).

The doctors and healthcare service providers hailed from Balochistan Population Welfare Department (PWD), People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) and Health Department Balochistan.

Speaking on the concluding session of the training, Secretary PWD Imran Gichki appreciated the role of MCSP and Jhpiego for their cooperation in capacity building of female healthcare providers, adding that doctors and other healthcare providers have received training in various new methods of family planning under the supervision and active support of the said organisations. He expressed optimism that this cooperation would bring a positive change in Balochistan in terms of Mother Mortality Rate (MMR), Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Total Fertility Rate (TFR).

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Wahid Baloch, the provincial programme manager of MCSP said that his organization was committed to extend fullest cooperation and support to all stakeholders in the future for a better and healthy future of mothers and infants in the province.

Towards the end, certificates were also distributed among the participants on successful completion of their training.
