QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan Aliyani on Friday unveiled provincial government’s first mineral policy 2019 during a ceremony held in Quetta added the new mineral policy would be helpful in winning the confidence of national and foreign investors.

“Current Government has embarked measured in order to uplift provincial mineral sector because without reforms and an effective policy we can’t bring investors in the province which was the only solution to boom provincial economy.” CM Balochistan said while addressing a ceremony in which Government of Balochistan introduced province’s first mineral policy 2019.

Provincial Minister and Advisors Zahoor Buledi, Engineer Zamrak Khan Achakzai, Saleem Khosa, Noor Muhammad Dummar, Naseebullah Marri, Mitha Khan Kakar, Senator Naseebullah Bazai, Secretary Mines Zahid Saleem, Additional Chief Secretary for P&D Abdul Rehman Buzdar, Bushra Rind and Spokesman to provincial government Liaquat Shahwani were present in the meeting.

Lauding the efforts of provincial mines and mineral department CM Balochistan said, all stakeholders have been in taken into confidence while finalization of provincial new mineral policy that unanimously had been approved by provincial cabinet,

“Tough our province was replete with natural mineral and resources but investors were reluctant to come here due to lack of an effective mineral policy.” Jam Kamal said slammed previous regimes for neglecting province’s mine and mineral sectors.

As per given target of rupees 2.4 billion rupees provincial mines and mineral department has achieved revenue of 2.8 billion rupees in one years.

Chief Minister Balochistan said, neither we can ensure provision of relief for masses nor development can progress without government department’s revenue hence betterment in provincial department has become necessary for lucrative earnings,

“Unfortunately Balochistan has old polices which remained foil in attracting national and foreign investors but we are optimistic that new mineral policies would clinch confidence of investors.”

Briefing the meeting Secretary Mines Zahid Saleem said, Mines and Mineral department had been established in 2002 while the rules had been introduce in 2002 but despite passage of decades we didn’t brought reforms,

“Each and every elements of Mineral Policy 2019 have been comprehensively reviewed in order to make sure 10% increase in mining department’s revenue.” Zahid Saleem added.
