KARACHI: Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that victory of candidate of PPP in the by-election held in Ghotki had sent the message to the present “Puppet regime” in the country that it would be bound to lose if the present government would do compromise on the rights of people and would continue to act on someone else’s signal.

PPP chairman stated this on Wednesday while addressing a press conference here at the media cell of Pakistan People’s Party. He was accompanied by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani. PPP Central Information Secretary Nafisa Shah, and other leaders of the party.

Speaking on the occasion, PPP chairman expressed gratitude to people of Ghotki for voting in the favour of the candidate of his party so to enable him to win the by-election in the previous day. He said that the National Assembly’s seat of Ghotki was earlier held by the present “Selected government” in the country.

Bilawal expressed gratitude to the entire Opposition for this victory in the by-election in Ghotki as he particularly thanked Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (Fazl) for lending cooperation to his party in this regard.

He said that the PPP’s candidate victory in the by-election was like a trailer for the present government as the real event would be upcoming election to choose the new chairman of Senate.

He said that government in the centre lacked the required numerical strength in winning the upcoming election to be held to elect the new chairman of Senate. “It is very much clear to me that Hasil Bizenjo will become the new Chairman of Senate,” he said.

He claimed that Senators belonging to the Opposition were being given offers of bribe from an affluent person associated with the government regarding the no-confidence motion tabled against the incumbent Chairman of Senate.

He said that government would not be in a position to fulfill the requirement of numerical strength in the Upper house of the Senate for getting elected new chairman Senate of its chpice.

He advised the Opposition Senators that they should accept the offer of money from the government but they should vote in the favour of the Opposition’s candidate for the chairman Senate.

He censured the move to censor the live TV broadcast of the press conference being conducted earlier in the day by the PML(N) leader Maryam Nawaz. He said that Maryam Nawaz had convened the press conference as she wanted to speak on the issues related to health of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

He said that former PM Nawaz Sharif should all the due get facilities regarding his health keeping in view his fundamental rights.

He said that media had been allowed to air the interviews of the captured Indian spy Kulbhushan Jhadhav  and captured Indian fighter pilot but the media was not allowed to broadcast the TV interview of former president Asif Ali Zardari who had raised the slogan of “Pakistan Khappay”.

The PPP Chairman said that selected government lacked a long-term vision as they were willing to accept conditions presented to them by the outside world.

He said that present government should not have made huge claims regarding resolving the issue of Afghanistan. He said that they supported any move being made for peaceful resolution of the Afghanistan problem.

He said that Pakistan should avoid doing over-promise with the United States and the NATO on the issue of Afghanistan as Pakistan should commit itself to such an extent to which it could deliver.

He expressed remorse that Prime Minister Imran Khan during his address to the expatriate Pakistani community in the United States continuously targeted the Opposition in Pakistan instead of hitting the enemies of Pakistan.

He said that it would have been most suitable for Imran Khan if he had gone to the United States as being the PM of the country.

He said that PM Imran Khan should better have done consultation with the Opposition before his visit of the United States as previously the past governments had taken similar advice from the Opposition before doing such foreign visits.
