QUETTA: Former Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly and MNA from Gwadar Lasbela-Muhammad Aslam Bhootani has strongly criticized the provincial government and said that due to its incompetency Pakistan will face another crisis as Pakistan has lost its case about Reko Diq in the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).

QUETTA: Former Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly and MNA from Gwadar Lasbela-Muhammad Aslam Bhootani has strongly criticized the provincial government and said that due to its incompetency Pakistan will face another crisis as Pakistan has lost its case about Reko Diq in the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).

The ICSID in its verdict said that Pakistan will have to pay US$ 5.840 million including interest to TTC in damages, for denying in 2011, illegally, the application for the mining license for the cooper and gold project Reko diq.

Mr. Bhootani said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and its financial team held successful negotiation with IMF and other international financial institutions despite many hurdles succeeded to get US$6 billion for the improvement of Pakistan economy. However, he said that on the other hand Pakistan has not only lost its Reko diq case in the ICSID but will have to pay huge fine.

He holding Balochistan government responsible for ICSID’s decision against Pakistan and said that it adopted wrong policy and sent incompetent team for the representation in the International Court. He said that now Pakistan will have to pay US$ 6 billion to the TTC which was working in Reko-diq cooper gold mining field.

“Pakistan can face dangerous economic situation in view of ICSID decision,” Aslam Bhootani said, adding that the verdict of the International court proved that the claims of the Chief Minister
Balochistan have no impact and he failed to fight Balochistan case. He said that it was disappointing situation for the people of Balochistan and him.

Mr. Bhootani said that the Balochistan government has not issues any clarification so far that who will pay the fine amount to TTC, Pakistan government or Balochistan government. He said that the fine amount would be Rs. 9 trillion that is equivalent to Balochistan’s three to four annual budgets.

The Balochistan former speaker expressed his serious concern over the situation and expressed his apprehensions that if federal government detected this amount from the annual share of Balochistan when Balochistan will return to the stone-age.
