QUETTA: Following the direction of Chief Minister Jam Kamal Provincial Minister PHE Noor Muhammad Dummar called an emergency call to review water scarcity in provincial capital vowed to take emergency measures in addressing water crisis.

QUETTA: Following the direction of Chief Minister Jam Kamal Provincial Minister PHE Noor Muhammad Dummar called an emergency call to review water scarcity in provincial capital vowed to take emergency measures in addressing water crisis.

The meeting was held in Chief Minister Secretariat on Thursday in which Provincial Minister PHE Noor Muhammad Dummar, Principle Secretary to CM Noor ul Ameen Mengal, Additional Chief Secretary P&D Abdul Rehman Buzdar, Seretary PHE Abdul Fateh Bangar, Commissioner Quetta and district officials have attended the meeting.

They decided to revamp administrative affairs WASA, restoration of non-functional tube-wells and functionalization of 170 tube-wells under Sariyab Package which would impart immediate water relief to citizens.

Provincial Minister PHE directed MD WASA to submit report regarding funds Water and Sanitation Department need, announced to probe installation of 300 tube-wells in provincial capital during previous regimes through Chief Minister Inspection Team (CMIT).

In order to prevent installation of illegal tube-wells in Quetta the provincial government decided that without NOC of Deputy Commissioner no one would be allowed to install tube-well in Quetta also announced strict action against corrupt mafia in WASA.

Briefing the meeting regarding hurdles in provision of water in Quetta MD WASA Mujeeb ur Rehman Qambrani said, there was a vacuum of 29 million gallon water in Quetta city which has been causing crisis in Quetta added Federal Government added Mangi Dam, Burj Aziz Dam, Halk Dam, and Babar Kach Dam in Federal PSDP which would fulfill Quetta’s water need,

Provincial Government announced to functionalize water treatment plant in Quetta which would be able in watering sports grounds, tree plantation, construction sites and car wash.

“Chinese Government has shifted provincial capital’s five tube-wells on solar while following CM directions WASA has been utilizing all resources to fulfill water need in Quetta.” MD WASA added.
