MASTUNG: The District Population Welfare Office Mastung is going to organise an awareness campaign regarding growing population at Mastung on 11th July.

According to an official hand-out, an awareness programme would be launched at one of its service outlets—Family Welfare Centre Zarkhalain—on World Population Day to highlight the hazards of growing population and to promote healthy family norms through child-spacing.

Speakers on the occasion would also highlight the importance of reproductive health for mothers. The District Office Mastung has appealed to the members of civil society, journalists and women to participate in the event for creating awareness regarding the foregoing issues.

World Population Day is observed every year on 11th July to sensitise communities and eligible couples regarding healthy family norms. Growing population has turned to be a big threat to the socio-economic threat to Pakistan. The population of the country is crossed 220 million with a growth rate as high as 2.4. The high growth rate has also created multiple health problems, especially for women and children and therefore the Mother Mortality Rate and Infant Mortality Rate stand high in Pakistan in general in Balochistan in particular.
