On Monday, NAB arrested Zardari in the fake bank accounts case from Islamabad. The arrest came after a bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) — comprising Justices Amir Farooq and Moshin Akhtar Kayani — had rejected a plea filed by Zardari and his sister, Faryal Talpur, seeking an extension in their interim bail in the fake bank accounts case.

Following the party leader’s arrest, PPP workers came out and held demonstrations, observing ‘black day’.

In view of the situation, a security alert was issued in Sindh and Rangers and police personnel began patrol to maintain law and order situation.

In Bajaur, protesters had a sit-in in front of the press club, where the speakers contended that the government is resorting to vindictive tactics and this hasn’t dampened their spirits.

In Tando Mohamad Khan, protesters came out and set fire to tires while in Gharo a rally was taken out.

Protests were also held in Badin and Mirpur Khas.

Female demonstrators protested in Bahawalpur’s Chak Madrassa.
