JIWANI: Cyclonic storm “Vayu” has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm, forcing authorities to put Jiwani Fishermen on high alert.

JIWANI: Cyclonic storm “Vayu” has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm, forcing authorities to put Jiwani Fishermen on high alert.

All fisheries patrolling staff, fisheries officers, inspectors and sub inspectors of the office of assistant directors fisheries Jiwani being directed to have a vigilant eye and don’t let any fishermen to venture in the sea for fishing.

Directions are being taken on the advice of joint Maritime Information coordination center and press release of Tropical Cyclone Warning Center of Pakistan Meteorological Department.

It is informed that well marked low pressure area in the East Arabian Sea has strengthened into a depression and lay centered around latitude 11.7 North and Longitude 71.0 East, at a distance of about 1500 kilometers south of Karachi.

The system is likely to move initially North / Northwest-ward abd strengthen further into a tropical cyclone during next 36 hours. Currently none of Pakistan coastal area is under threat from this system.

Apart from the weather warning there is already complete ban on all type of fishing in territorial waters of Balochistan during breeding season with effect from 1st June to 31st of July.
