Institutions need to work within constitutional limits: Achakzai

QUETTA: Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Chairman Pashtookhawa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), has said that all institutions should fulfill their responsibilities according to the constitution of Pakistan, which give the right of vote to the people of the country to elect parliament for making policies and running the affairs of the country.

Speaking at a public meeting in his native town Gulistan, on Tuesday, he said, “Everyone should be remain in its limit and allow the elected representative of the people to run the affairs of the country without any interference of other forces.

He said the constitution of the country give right to every Pakistani to form political party and launch protest in case of any act of violence and cruelty from the part of government. However, he said that presently, the country was facing continuous violation of constitution and using excess of power which pushing the country towards destruction.

Mr. Achakzai said that Pashtoons were facing genocide as an endless war was imposed on them which resulted in killing of several lac Pashtoons and no one was making efforts to act as a go-between for ending this bloodshed continued since last 40 years.

He while referring Waziristan’s recent incident said that 14 people lost their lives and45 injured. He said that all democratic political parties, apex court, civil society and every person of different walks of life must take notice of this incident and rulers should apologize over it. He expressed the hope that democratic parties of the country would take serious notice of the situation being faced by the Pashtoons in the country and would extend their help and cooperation to bring out Pashtoons from this situation; otherwise we would have accelerate our struggle for protection of our rights and resources.

Chairman PkMAP said that Pakistan is our country and we want equal rights for living in it, which is the federation of five nationalities, including Baloch, Pashtoon, Punjabi, Sindhi and Saraiki. However, he said that his party believes in equal rights of all nationalities, control over their resources, democracy and rule of constitution. “As slave, we are not ready to live in Pakistan even for single day,” Mehmood Khan Achakzai said.

He opposed erecting of barbet wire at the Durand line between Pakistan and Afghanistan and said that it is against the international rules and regulation. He said that his party is also against the filing reference against Justice Qazi Faez Isa in the Supreme Judicial Council.
