QUETTA: The Balochistan government led by Jam Kamal Khan has announced Public Sector Development Programme (SPDP) of Rs. 126 billion for 2461 new and ongoing development schemes.

QUETTA: The Balochistan government led by Jam Kamal Khan has announced Public Sector Development Programme (SPDP) of Rs. 126 billion for 2461 new and ongoing development schemes.

Presenting the budget, the Finance Minister, Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi said that in the current budget the previous government had allocated Rs. 82 billion for the PSDP that include deficit of Rs. 62. 9 billion which the Jam led government reduced with slashing development schemes which were not approved by the Planning and development schemes.”With reducing the total number of schemes to 26439 with enhanced allocation, targeted intervention and less throw forward.”

According to the PSDP documents, the provincial government includes 1796 new and 665 ongoing development schemes in the development programme announced for the financial yaer 2019-20 budget. The priority has been given to education, commutation, health, Public health engineering, local government, law and order, urban planning and development.

The highest allocation of Rs. 24610.75 million would be spent on 581 new development schemes in the communication sector and second highest allocation of Rs. 12678. 45 million was made for the 284 development schemes of education sector. The provincial government will spent RS. 12213.85 millions on 574 development schemes in public health engineering department for supplying drinking water to the people who were facing shortage of water since long.

In the next financial year, the government would spend Rs.8201. 78 million on 113 new development schemes while it has allocated Rs. 3518.28 million for the 19 development schemes in the Agriculture sector. The local government is another important sector for which the Jam led government allocated Rs. 2164.16 million for the 114 development schemes. Industries sector will get Rs. 862.15 million for implementing 16 development schemes. Provincial government will spent Rs. 3662.60 million on 70 development schemes under Urban Planning and development department. An amount of Rs. 1632.b5 million has been allocated in the development budget for 34 schemes of social welfare department. The mineral sector will get Rs.223.54 for its 7 development projects proposed in the next financial year’s budget.

In the total PSDP budget Rs. 108114.84 million would be spent new development schemes, which also include Rs. 12742.48 million which would be spent on other schemes which were not
identified in the PSDP.

On the 665 going development schemes the provincial government has allocated Rs. 43502.26 million and highest amount of RS. 7970.84 will be spent on the completion of 103 schemes while
another amount of Rs.7628.21 million will go for completion of  165 ongoing schemes of communication sector.
