Balochi language has many Wash Gushendas – melodious singers, but one of these voices that ring magically every time in the ears is of Mureed Buledi. His command over the pitch of voice and longevity in expression to go down slowly coupled with a vibration in his throat as well the exciting background music creates a spell over the listener, up lifts mood,

splashes Joy in the air, as if exploring the soul of Balochi music. At the same time, he was a composer of music, and a lyricist, expressing his emotions in depth and charged. Above all his melodious voice mixed with the sweet music makes a difference.

Initially he was a folksinger, with a smart body, twirling moustache, trim beard, dancing on stages in hand was a Dambora – Guitar. He is seen in a cultural white dress, stitched with minor embroidery, to end up in a tiny turban to give an additional look to his personality as a graceful young man. However, in the late years he becomes more solemn in dress and temperament to resonate like a master singer. Modest he used to sit on floor having Dambora – a rudimentary form of Guitar, as the musicians strum their instruments, such as Lyre (Sorunz), Harmonica (Chang), Flute (Nad) Tambourine (Dafli) Small Drums (Tabla) and all the other tunes in harmony.

The Melodious Mureed Buledi, used to sing on his own, as a lad acknowledged by Jawansal Bugti – a famous religious Balochi language poet. Later on Mureed Bulaidi was introduced to Nawab Muhammad Akbar Khan Bugti, who liked him very much. He had faith in his talent of singing, and encouraged him all along his journey to prominence and popularity. The magic of music inspires feelings and enhances mood, at times it makes to cry and again delights to twitter.

Says Nawab Muhammad Akbar Khan Bugti in a Programme held in the memory of Mureed Bulaidi. Music with such a melodious voice was the dream of the Poets of that age Jawansal Bugti, Atta Shad and many more, close him. Recalls Shah Mohammad Marri and further recounts Mureed Buleedi had sung Jawansal Bugti, Mast Tawakli, Jam Durrak, Pahlawan Faqeer and certainly Atta Shad.

By singing the folk Mureed Buledi preserved the songs for the generations to come, otherwise it might have got lost. Meanwhile, his melodious voice bounded him in friendship with the renowned Balochi philologist, poet and dramatist, Atta Shad. He familiarized him to Radio Broadcasting and then Pakistan Television shows. Further he cast him in the dramas he wrote on the historical Baloch characters as the drama stars’ lip-synced his Balochi songs in the plays. Mureed Buledi was awarded, Pride of Performance in the year 1979 – the highest award in the performance of the arts in Pakistan. He sung in the small gatherings, concerts and even sung at Turkey Tanzania, Morocco and Kenya. His favorite areas of singing were religion, epic, historical events, romance, classic and folk songs, there was versatility in his singing and had sung a range of themes.

Around dozens of songs he had sung, some of the most popular songs are Biya Biya Mai Dilbar, Samo Tai Wash e Kandag o Taukan, Laila o Laila, Doshi ma Hawal e Nokhe, Hani Thae Minat Kana and of course Muhammad Thai Sara Sertaj Sain etc. He belonged to eastern Balochistan, and sung in that dialect, it is felt that he did rehearsal for longer hours. He died in the year 1986 around in an age of fifty years.
