KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani on Wednesday held a meeting to review the progress of operation against Illegal encroachment in connection with restoration of Karachi Circular Railway track under directions of SC at his office here.

The Commissioner Karachi while appreciated the efforts of all concerned who took coordinated and comprehensive strategy to clear the track within 50/50 feet of KCR. He underlined the need of continuation of anti encroachment drive till the targets achieved set by the team.

He has also took steps to hold meetings with railway authorities on May 14، under took visit of KCR on May 18 to personally review the track situation and meeting/ visit  of Federal Railway Minister and CS

Sindh jointly on May 20 in this regard further strategy and implementation over SC direction accordingly.

The Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani has further said that we are continued to work and clear the track with same momentum to revive KCR and after efforts of the Governmental efforts and playing our individual role on comprehensively under the directions of SC, we would be able to give the gift of KCR in practical manner to the karachiities.

As the operation and its monitoring and patrolling is continued by the respective agencies   who are regularly sent the progress report to the concerned. He said that before submit the comprehensive and convincing report to SC, we would ask the PR to run trial train over the track so that we would see the future aspects and impact on ground realities, in this regard we will approach the GOS and its respective deptt to take up the matter with the Federal Govt and Ministry for running trial train on 20 KM track on a experimental basis by PR.

The Commissioner has directed all DCs to initiate a operation beyond 50/50 Feet to 110/120 feet for future clearance of the any sort of encroachments in their jurisdictions and secure them  permanently to ensure the  human settlements and buildings would take legally after consultations and under legal  entity and cover. All ACs and other authorities will make sure to the strategy evolved for the task and resolve the same ad per law under SC directions. DS Railway Syed Mazhar Ali Shah has also briefed the progress of secure track and operation carried by respective DCs with the support of Railway police and anti encroachment cell and sent daily progress report to the Commissioner Karachi accordingly.

He further said that under policy guidelines and instructions will follow the ministry’s line if GOS will approach Federal Govt. and Ministry for trial train before June 9.

DIG Operation PR Azhar Rasheed Khan has also  said that the Railway Police with the support of DCs etc are working as per strategy devised for revival of KCR under SC directions, will ensure that not to resurface the encroachments again.

Municipal Commissioner KMC Dr Saifur Rehman while recognized the efforts by all respective teams has said that as per SC direction we all here to ensure all legalities and modalities as per targets set.

DC East and West also briefed about daily progress of operation launched since May 15 and on wards will ensure all track clear and as per decision will draft a legal notice of 45 days issued to unauthorized persons and human settlements as per SC direction and will follow as per law and rules to clear the track of KCR as per plan and mechanism .ADC Central was informed that 9 days operation plan will be launched from tomorrow in the district as per strategy to bulldoze the human settlements without any resistances.

The Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani has said that before submitting the comprehensive and convincing  report  to SC, On June 9, concrete  steps are being taken to revive KCR with collective and coordinated  efforts  by all concerned through proper strategy.
