The Hazara community’s has called off its sit-in on the Western Bypass after four days on the assurances of Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan that justice will be served. The protests began after the violent suicide attack at Hazar Ganji market, which claimed the lives of over 21 people, including ten members of the Hazara community, 2 FC soldier and Pashtuns amongst other locals.

The Hazara Community is made a target for indiscriminate killing for over a decade and the killers remained scot-free to this date. Earlier, the people arrested on the charge of sectarian killing and violence escaped from the maximum security prison of the Anti-Terrorist Force in Quetta.

They remained absconders till they were gunned down in one of the police encounters. It is the duty of the State and its security agencies to properly and thoroughly investigate that Iran or Saudi Arabia are involved in a proxy war in Balochistan. Iran is our next door neighbour and tens of thousands of Shia Zaireen visit Iran for religious purposes.

Is there any Saudi involvement in attacking the Zaireen to Iran? The security agencies should investigate this and inform the people of Pakistan about the results of their investigations. Secondly, the conduct of the Saudis should be investigated that they are funding seminaries in large number since the ‘Afghan war’ or waging Jihad against the Red Army contingent of the defunct Soviet Union.

Are they still financing the established Sunni Ulema in one way or the other, or funding the thousands of seminaries in Balochistan or elsewhere in Pakistan retaining Saudi influence on the Pakistani society. Hazara people are living in peace and harmony with the Baloch people and other communities in Quetta for over 150 years and there was a complete understanding among them. At least there was no conflict among them. Thus why the Hazara community is singled out now and in present-day politics?
