KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced 15-member squad each for T20Is and ODIs for the series against South Africa with Ramin Shamim replacing Anam Amin and Javeria Rauf making a comeback almost after four years.

The squad was announced by the chief selector Urooj Mumtaz along with two other members of the selection committee – Asmavia Iqbal and Marina Iqbal – in Karachi after a series of practice games between women cricketers.

Anam Amin, who was part of Pakistan’s squad that played against West Indies earlier this year was dropped and has been replaced by Ramin Shamim, who is named in Pakistan team for the first time.

Urooj explained that Anam was dropped due to her failure in the fitness test.

“Anam couldn’t pass the fitness test, she was far behind in all four areas of the tests,” Urooj, also a former captain, told media while announcing the team.

30-year old Javeria Rauf has been added to Pakistan ODI after four years. She scored three half-centuries in recently concluded PCB inter-department women T20 championship. She last played an ODI for Pakistan in 2014 and has played just one T20I since 2014.

Javeria has replaced Saba Nazir from the squad that was picked for the previous series. Saba, however, has been named among reserved players for the tour.

Natalia Parvez has also been dropped from the T20 squad.

Pakistan’s ODI squad for the ICC Championship ODIs against South Africa include Bismah Maroof, Nahida Khan, Javeria Rauf, Sidra Amin, Javeria Wadood, Omaima Sohail, Nida Dar, Aliya Riaz, Kainat Imtiaz, Sidra Nawaz, Sana Mir, Nashra Sandhu, Diana Baig, Aimen Anwer, and Rameen Shamim.

Iram Javed will replace Nahida Khan for the T20I squad.

Reserved players for the series include Muneeba Ali, Saba Nazir, Fareeha Mehmood, and Fatima Sana.

Urooj Mumtaz said that squad has been picked from best available players and expressed hope that the team will produce positive results.

“I am very hopeful that team will produce good results and will continue to doing good the way they did against West Indies,” she said.

Pakistan women cricket team will leave for South Africa on 29th April.
