QUETTA: The Balochistan government has banned all kind political and organizational functions in all state run colleges with immediate effect and directed concerned authorities to strictly implement on the decision.

Official sources said that the decision on banning the political and organizational functions in the government colleges was taken in view of interference of political parties in the educational institutions and holding their organizational meetings in the colleges’ premises.

The Director Colleges Balochistan Ms. Rubaba Hameed Khan Durrani issued a directive on Thursday which said that higher authorities of the provincial government has banned arranging all kind of political and organizational functions and activities in the colleges running by the government.

“All kind of political and organizational functions are strictly banned in the educational institutions of Balochistan,” the official statement of the Director Colleges Balochistan said.

The official order warns, “In case of violation disciplinary will be taken against the violator under BEEDA rules. All principals of the colleges were directed to implement the instructions in the true letter and spirit.

Baloch Students Action Committee Chairperson Dr Nawab Baloch opposed the ban as counterproductive and demanded the government withdraw it immediately. “Instead of restoring student unions, the government of Balochistan has imposed a ban on political activities at the campuses,” tweeted Dr Baloch.

“This should be withdrawn immediately as this will result in a dull society in future.”
