QUETTA: 1.2million trees would be planted in throughout province through Pakistan Plantation Drive. Eighty Thousand trees are being planted in various areas of the province.

The Advisor of Chief Minister on Livestock, Metha Khan while speaking in a seminar arranged in the wake of plantation drive said, five years long plan has been framed under provincial government, in which 2.5 billion trees would be planted in overall province.

He said, unlike earlier regimes, the sitting government would through a comprehensive planning ensure plantation so that forests would increase in province.

The effects of climate change can be reduced through plantation. Meanwhile, government is taking serous measures to bring necessary reform in forest act. Steps are underway to frame Forest Act 2019. He added.

He further said, widespread drought has ruined the agriculture and livestock sector of the province. Due to the current phase of seasonal rains, the intensity of drought has been reduced significantly.
