Poor policies of federal govt behind weakened economy: Murtaza

KARACHI: Advisor to Chief Minster Sindh on Information Barrister Murtaza Wahab said Thursday that due to the bad policies of the federal government, the investors had taken out $2.75 billion from stock market while comparatively 77 percent decrease in direct foreign investment had been reported in last five months.

KARACHI: Advisor to Chief Minster Sindh on Information Barrister Murtaza Wahab said Thursday that due to the bad policies of the federal government, the investors had taken out $2.75 billion from stock market while comparatively 77 percent decrease in direct foreign investment had been reported in last five months.

The Advisor said this while talking to media persons outside Sindh Assembly on Thursday. He said that the statistics were neither presented by any political party nor any political opponent, but State Bank of Pakistan had endorsed the stance about the economy of country in its report the other day. He said that PTI members were busy making rhetoric for political scoring but at the end, our economy was getting affected.

He said: “Our country was passing through a period when we need foreign reserves to meet our balance of payments and to improve our trade deficit. We need a competent government at federal level which can encourage foreign investors so that they could bring their investments to Pakistan.”  Wahab said that opposition parties were of the view that the federal government had not presented its economical policies and monetary policies with clarity and now State Bank of Pakistan had endorsed and confirmed the stance.

He said that due to policies of failed government at federal level, investor of stock exchange was worried, as unemployment had increased manifold and poverty ratio was on the rise. He advised PTI to concentrate on the real issues of the country and stop hatching conspiracies which were bound to fail as people of Sindh had rejected PTI.

He said that PTI government had made tall claims of independence of institutions, but it is now using institutions for achieving political targets.  He demanded of the federal government to end political maneuvering and interference in national institutions so that they could perform their duties with independence.

To a question regarding NAB inquiry into Information Department Sindh, he said that all the required documents were being provided to NAB, adding that the Sindh govt has not done anything wrong.
