QUETTA: Despite many claims of progress over kidnapping of Dr. Ibrahim Khalil, the provincial government couldn’t recover abducted doctor or persuade doctors to end strikes in Government Hospitals.

Dr. Siekh Ibrahim Khalil was abducted by unknown armed more than a month ago from Shahbaz Town area of the provincial capital which triggered doctors’ strike in Government Hospitals of the provincial capital.

During meeting with Doctors Action Committee last week the Chief Minister Baloochistan claimed that Law Enforcement Agencies have been utilizing all resources for the safe recovery of kidnapped doctor urged DAC to call-off strikes in Governemnt Hospitals.

But CM Jam’s assurance didn’t work as doctor’s boycott of General OPDs in Civil Hospital, BMC Hospital and Benazir Hospital continued from more than a month.

Hundreds of poor patients particularly of remote areas of Balochistan were deprived of treatment in government hospitals due to strikes.

“We don’t understand that why doctors’ community suspends their services from Government Hospitals but in private hospitals they have been working regularly which not affordable for poor patients.” The relatives of patients complained because suspended services in OPDs directly affecting poor patients.

They added, the doctors’ community should also boycott private hospitals and clinic because only poor in this province suffering.

They urged the provincial government to take concrete measure for the recovery of kidnapped doctors and preclude protesting doctors’ of imparting health services in Government Hospitals.
