KARACHI : Balochistan National Party (BNP) leader Sardar Akhter Mengal on Wednesday maintained that the party had no intention of toppling the federal government as long as their demands were accepted, Daily Balochistan express reported.

While addressing media in Karachi, before BNP central committee meeting

Sardar Akhtar Mengal said that “I was not taken in confidence for meeting with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa regarding Missing person’s issue. I went Islamabad three times for meeting with Army Chief but he was not available in Islamabad, Who is answerable for this? PTI government has failed to fulfill our six point agenda.

“When Army Chief came to Quetta for meeting, I was in rural areas of Balochistan, said Akhtar Mengal,” adding that it was impossible for me to reach Quetta within few hours to attend the meeting with Army Chief. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is not serious to resolve the issues of Balochistan, he said.

Sardar Akhtar Mengal said” PTI government is not interested to address our six point agenda. We are not planning to derail the federal government, said BNP President.

He said that PTI government has offered BNP for federal Ministries but we refused to accept the federal ministries. “Before elections we presents six point’s agenda to PTI including missing person issue and 9 points agenda at provincial level but could not get any response from federal government, he added.

Mengal added that we are sitting on independent benches which are a good sign and BNP will fully support to the federal government. Balochistan National Party will resist every wrong decision of federal government, he clarify.

Mengal said that” Former President Asif Ali Zardari’s meeting with Former Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif was a good sign”. These kinds of political meetings were positive steps for the democratic process. The Opposition parties now reunite on one platform against the federal government due to its wrong policies, added BNP Chief.

Replying to a question Akhtar Mengal said “we have reservations on PTI government policies, adding that we want the government to resolve the issues of Balochistan. We have not decided yet to disaffiliate with the federal government, said Mengal.

In a question, BNP Chief said our part central executive committee meeting held after every 3 months. We are discussing the current political situation in party meeting. After Party meeting BNP will decide whether it will be a part of federal government or not, Mengal said.

Replying a question, he added that we are against Military courts and we opposed it at every platform. Almost 350 missing persons were recovered but still 5000 are missing from Balochistan, he highlights.
