The leaders of Voice for Baloch missing Persons (VBMP) announces to ends their protest camp for two months after assurance of the Chief Minister, Jam Kamal Khan Alyani that government will make serious efforts for the recovery of missing persons. Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan Aliyani on Wednesday announced to take on board all stakeholders for addressing Balochistan’s core issue of missing persons adding we have asked two months period to show progress over this issue.

As a measure of confidence building, Chief Minister must have a big and final say on the issues of missing persons, enforce disappearances, people detained without trial, withdrawal of combat forces from whole of Balochistan, withdrawal of cases against all and a commitment that no action will be taken against the militants if they return to the normal life and conduct their affairs in a normal way. Before that Balochistan National Party Chief Akhtar Mengal also raise the issue of missing person on the National assembly floor,

BNP made the six points which were accepted by PTI whose leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that his party would deliver upon the promises made with Sardar Akhter Mengal. The foregoing point would resolve the simmering emotions in Balochistan as hundreds of people, if not thousands, have gone missing since the low scale insurgency that erupted in the province following assassination of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.

Either the missing persons are in some extra-judicial custody or have left country for good, it is foremost duty of the state to establish the fact of their missing to absolve itself of suspicion and build confidence of their families in state institutions. Moreover, clauses relating to Balochistan in NAP were empowerment of the provincial government to take up negotiations with estranged stakeholders, put end to the sectarian violence that has done much damage,

choke terror financing to decapitate groups like Jamal ul Ahrar, IS and Taliban to carry out 8 August and 13 July incident. Provincial government approach to solve the issue CM Balochistan said, the provincial government will approach all level and we will hold talks with all stake holders because without activation of all institution we can’t show progress. The Baloch nationalist and human rights organisations use the term ‘missing persons’ to refer to those who are allegedly ‘disappeared’.

According to the Baloch nationalist the victims of this disappearance are Baloch political activists, students, nationalist leaders, writers, human rights activists, lawyers, doctors and teachers. The former Chief Minister Balochistan, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch also linked peace in Balochistan with the safe release of missing persons,

it is time to show interest in peaceful settlement of the issue and endure for safe release of forcefully abducted ones to let people observe the magic of democracy to see this human tragedy solved. As long the genuine issues of Balochistan are not addressed peacefully through political means, the province and its people would continue to suffer.

“Governments were reluctant to even discuss Missing Persons’ issue, but our government took this responsibility because like other issues of Balochistan we seriously seek to solve this quagmire.” Chief Minister Jam Kamal making effort for safe recovery of missing person and government look serious about the issue of missing person, the issue must be resolve as soon as possible.

If BAP’s can take bold steps to address the grievance, it would really see a positive change in this province. Betrayal of promises with missing person families would further lead Balochistan to a black-hole that consumes all the light of hope.
